Emirates Fine Arts Society  part 2

Title: Hadab
This sculptural work, formed from clay, emerges from elements of traditional Emirati women’s
attire the jalabiya, kandoura gowen, and sirwal not merely as garments, but as forms that
transcend their material function to become vessels of layered sensory and cultural memory.
These pieces are not evoked simply as clothing, but as living traces of daily life, shaped through
the subtle gestures of living that women have woven into the spaces of home and city.
In popular memory, “hada”b refers to the thread used to sew garments, from which the beauty
of the piece begins. This delicate thread transforms within the work into a visual metaphor and arepository of memory
